The Brown Seaweed Compound Fucoidan Works For Your Health

By Jackie Bubis

Cutting edge medical research is being done worldwide on putting together new compounds that have targeted action. Results from the past are informing this research and laying the path to future medical improvement. The medicine from ages past is being looked at again and modernized with the knowledge we have gained with technology. Science is revealing the secrets held within the medicinal plants that have been used for generations. One such plant is a brown seaweed that contains the compound Fucoidan.

Brown seaweeds health shine comes from the compound Fucoidan which is part of the seaweed?s cell wall. It falls in the polysaccharide category which, to us, means it?s a natural carbohydrate. Scientists in Japan found that Fucoidan acts to inhibit the growth of tumors, which is good news for cancer researchers.

Researchers are also finding that Fucoidan - specifically U-Fucoidan and F-Fucoidan are showing properties that create apoptosis in cancer cells, especially lymphoma cells. Simply stated apoptosis is the way a cell dies. They are hopeful that this will be a major boon to the science of fighting cancer. Tumor grown is also being slowed by the way Fucoidan works with the immune system.

Tumors attach themselves to the body and then proceed to spread through the body in a process knows as metastasis. Fucoidan seems to prevent the attachment of these tumor cells withing the body. The research is still in the early stages but scientists are hopeful.

That doesn?t mean that Fucoidan is not effective in helping the body heal or stay healthy. Research does support its role in a variety of health issues. Back to the ancient ways: the brown seaweed has been thought for generations to help with allergies, inflammation, and fighting infection as well.

There are so many foods that are naturally good for you, foods really are the best medicine, and science is coming around to acknowledging that, though it is rather a new concept. Superfoods, like pomegranate, known for their abundant health properties are in the news like never before. Though Fucoidan isn?t there yet, with all the great research, even cancer research, showing it?s health benefits, it?s on it way.

If you?re thinking that maybe it would be beneficial to add Focuoidan to your life, just as a preventive measure against cancer, I?m thinking the same thing. Since there are no side effects like with drugs, as they say, it couldn?t hurt. And there are so many other benefits of this compound that it might be a good idea to just add it to your daily routine. One way to do that is with Limu Plus, a great blend of Fucoidan, Aloe Vera and green tea.
