You don't have to have an ice cream maker to make great tasting ice cream which has the same texture and consistency of your favorite flavours. While an machine definitely does make the job much simpler, there are recipes for ice cream that do not need an ice cream maker machine. It does take plenty of time and patience but for those that want a great quart of ice cream this should be the route to take.
A Basic Recipe for Chocolate Ice Cream
Chocolate is a favorite of many individuals. To make this recipe, follow these directions.
You'll need to make a custard base. Mix together 5 egg yolks and two oz. of sugar. Beat it till the sugar becomes thick.
Then, scald one pint of milk. To scald it, bring it slowly up to a boiling point.
Tip the milk into the egg/sugar mixture next while constantly stirring it. After combined, tip the blend back into the pan. Turn the heat back on, but low and keep stirring. Continue to do so as the custard forms, but don't allow it to boil.
Look for a thin film of the mixture to form over the spoon. When this happens, remove it from the heat.
Add 6 oz of milk chocolate into the blend. Chop these into bits first to allow them to melt quickly. Allow the chocolate to melt fully. Then, remove it from the heat.
Permit it to cool for several minutes. Then, chill it till the custard becomes cold.
After it becomes cold, mix it until it becomes slushy and add heavy cream to it. Mix this again.
Move the mixture into the container you need to store it in and then place in the refrigerator for roughly 30 minutes. Check it and if it has started to get solid along the sides, you must take it out and beat the ice cream mix until it becomes creamy.
Put it into the fridge for another 30 minutes, remove, and beat. Do this a full 3 times. Then, allow it to freeze totally when you're ready to enjoy it. Otherwise, if you've an electric ice cream maker you can freeze according to the manufacturer's instructions.
You need to use this same process to create a selection of different flavours. Rather than the chocolate, add vanilla bean and vanilla extract. Instead of the chocolate, add raspberry pieces. You are able to add peanuts and candies to the chocolate (or any other flavour) too. Try unique mixes, too, for example bananas with honey. Adding mint chocolates to your chocolate ice cream can create an ideal flavour for mint lovers.
Be as whimsical as you want to, or as easy as you would like. You'll find many other ice cream recipes without an ice cream maker available. Though you'll need to make custard, add in your ingredients and then mix and freeze as directed above, possibilities are good you'll create a luxurious treat that is well worth all the work.
