Tips to Help Parents Practice Proper Baby Skin Care

If you haven't ever cared for a newborn before, your baby's skin care can be intimidating. As a new parent it is easy to become overwhelmed with trying to be perfect. The good news is that baby skin care is a lot easier than most new parents think it is.

You only need a few products. If you want to learn how to develop a skin care routine for your new baby, keep reading!

Daily baths are not required for newborns and very young infants. For the most part newborns and very young infants stay pretty clean. Babies aren't mobile right away so they don't get very dirty. This makes it easier for Mom and Dad to make sure that baby's skin doesn't come into contact with dirt or other things. A newborn pretty much only needs to be given a bath twice or three times a week as long as you keep the baby's face clean. Once they become mobile, however, daily baths are important.

Baths only need to be given two or three times each week if you keep your newborn son or daughter's face clean. Bathtime happens more often when the baby becomes mobile and get can around without a parent's help.

Test the baby's bath water before you set him in it. A baby's skin is more easily burned by hot water than adults. You might not believe this but most people don't start to like hot showers and hot baths until later on in life.

Put your elbow into the water to see if the bath is too hot for your baby. Your elbow has very sensitive skin so if the water is too hot or cold for your elbow you need to adjust the temperature of the water. At most your baby's bathwater should be lukewarm. This will keep you from accidentally burning your baby or cooling him off too much.

Acne is a skin problem that many people don't know can inflict their baby. The acne formation starts before the baby is even born - the mothers hormones are the root cause. It's really simple, some babies will produce more oil in their skin which in turn will clog their pores. You are never to let your baby's skin come into contact with any adult acne clearer!

You have a lot of options to choose from to help you protect your child's skin. Don't forget that good skin care should start early in life so you should make sure that you develop a regular skin care routine as soon as possible. Remember, proper baby skin care involves taking care of the baby's whole body, not just her (or his) face.
