The Continued Search For The Perfect Martini Recipes On Earth

By Annette Rose

One of the most widely recognized cocktails in the world is the martini. Ever since its conception, it has been loved and cherished by so many people. Today there are so many different varieties that can appeal to any number of people. Many try to find the perfect martini but it cannot be found, only made. There have been many discussions on what makes a perfect martini.

A standard martini is made with gin mostly and not vodka. To make a perfect martini or one that is pretty close to perfection you will need to have high quality ingredients. Get a good brand for both the gin and the vermouth. A three to one gin to vermouth ratio will provide you with the right amount of dryness. Then pour the mix into a cocktail shaker and give it a good shake. Then strain into the chilled glass and enjoy a sip. You can use an olive or a lemon twist as a garnish. If you want to use the lemon twist, make sure to swipe the inside of the glass with it to transfer a little bit of its essence to the drink before pouring the drink into it.

The vodka or gin question still remains unanswered today as both sides stick with their own arguments. The purists will insist that gin is the real component of martini and not vodka while the rest will argue that vodka is an important part of a martini. Making the perfect martini is a delicate process and a great martini is made in the details. Every single step no matter how easy adds or takes away the taste of the final drink.

The watermelon martini is a popular variation of martini. In order to make a watermelon martini you have to get your hands on some fresh watermelon puree. The shaker has to half filled with ice cubes before adding the ingredients to it. In a watermelon martini vodka is used instead of gin. One and a half parts watermelon puree is added to one part vodka. Both the ingredients are shaken briskly and strained into the glass. Before filling the glass you have to take a wet cloth and rub it along its rim. The rim is then dipped in pink or green sugar to give the drink a little bit of extra sweetness.

Throughout history martinis have continued to evolve and they still do today. You can choose from a variety of martinis like the watermelon martini, the manhattan, the raspberry ripple martini, the brazillian martini etc. Though arguments about the authenticity of this drink have raged on for years, every cocktail enthusiast will agree in unison that a martini is a symbol of elegance, panache and simplicity.
